LINGEN, Germany, May 21–Helen Langehanenberg, Germany’s pint-sized star, rode Responsible OLD to the pair’s first ever international victory by winning the International Dressage Festival CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday.
Helen and the 12-year-old Oldenburg mare scored 75.325 per cent with fellow German Anabel Balkenhol, daughter of former U.S. team coach Klaus, and Rubins Royal in second place on 79.400 per cent with Denmark’s Olympic combination of Anne van Olst and Exquis Clearwater in third on 74.425 per cent.
In their three years at Grand Prix, the pair have finished in the top 10 34 times, and although this was not their personal best–79.125 per cent at the World Cup qualifier in’s-Hertogenbosch in March was their highest score–but this was the first time they took top honors.
