SYDNEY, April 30–Rachael Sanna and Jaybee Alabaster thrilled the audience with their winning Grand Prix Freestyle performance at the Sydney CDI3* Saturday night, dethroning Brett Parbery and Victory Salute as the reigning Australian champions.

Rachael and the 12-year-old Hanoverian stallion who last competed on the Australian team at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky last year scored 74.250 per cent to top the field of 13 Australian and two New Zealand combinations in the Hamilton Island Grand Prix Freestyle.

Brett and the 15-year-old Australian Warmblood gelding scored 73.700 per cent while veteran Olympian Mary Hanna and her 10-year-old gelding Umbro were third with 69.475 per cent.

Faults in the one-time changes plagued Brett and Victory Salute throughout this competition.

Rachel, however, ignored pain from a bulged disc to compete.

The class was the second of five dressage qualifiers for the 2011 Equestrian Grand Final to be held Nov. 10-13 in conjunction with EQUITANA Sydney at the Sydney Showground.
