STADL-PAURA, Austria, April 24–Hometown favorite Victoria Max-Theurer and Augustin OLD won the Grand Prix at the Stadl-Paura CDI3* with Canada’s Belinda Trussell and Anton runnersup.
Victoria and the 11-year-old Oldenburg stallion scored 74.77 per cent. Belinda and her 11-year-old gelding that she last competed as a member of the Canadian team at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky seven months ago scored 69.23 per cent. Three-time German Olympic medalist Heike Kemmer on Quantico was third with 68.19 per cent.
“I am very happy with our ride,” Victoria said. “I wanted to ride a safe round and that’s why I did not risk anything. It could have perhaps been a little more swinging.“
In the Freestyle for Young Riders, third time was lucky for The Netherlands’ Angela Krooswijk. She rode Revino 2 for a score of 72.95 per cent and the victory over Annabel Frenzen of Germany and Cristobal 14 with the same score but placed second with fellow German Louisa Lüttgen on Habitus 10 in third with 72.43 per cent.
Angela was second to Louisa Lüttgen last year and second behind European team champion Sanneke Rothenberger in 2009.
Antoinette te Riele on Fleurie claimed another title for The Netherlands in the Junior Freestyle, and their third victory of the weekend. The pair scored 73.67 per cent with Germany’s Garrn Katalin on Debbie 46 second with 72.67 per cent and Denmark’s Christensen Kathrine Sumborg on Rohmario in third with 70.50 per cent.
Germany’s Lena Walterscheidt also posted her third win of the weekend when she rode Equestricons Lord Champion whom she started riding last October to victory in the Pony Freestyle with a score of 77.00 per cent. Fellow German Sophie Kampmann on Den Ostriker Dailan were second with 73.92 per cent and Denmark’s Caroline Smidt Bording and PSW Desperado third on 71.96 per cent.
