LAUSANNE, Switzerland, April 10–The success of Helen Langehanenberg over the winter has propelled the rider and her two top horses to join fellow Germans Isabell Werth and Ulla Salzgeber and Holland’s Hans Peter Minderhoud with more than one horse among the top 30 in the latest world individual rankings.
As of the end of March, Helen and Responsible OLD moved to 18th place from 26 while she and Damon Hill NRW shot up to 28 from 120th place a month earlier in the International Equestrian Federation rankings.
Isabell remained in the top 10 with three horses–Warum Nicht FRH in 4th place, Satchmo 78 in 5th and El Santo NRW in 9th.
Ulla and Herzruf’s Erbe remained at No. 7 while Wakana moved to 25th from 27 and Hans Peter and Exquis Nadine moved up to 13th from 16th and IPS Tango slotted into 16th place from 25.
Competitors on the Florida winter circuit saw their success reflected in the rankings–Steffen Peters of San Diego, California, and Ravel moved up to 8th place from 10, Sweden’s Tinne Silfven and Favourit jumped to No. 12 from 17, Tina Konyot of Palm City, Florida and Calecto V to 19 from 21 and Canada’s Ashley Holzer and Pop Art to 26 from 32.
The Netherlands’ Edward Gal and Totilas–whose last competition together before the stallion was sold to Germany was the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky six months ago–remained atop the standings, with compatriot Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival remained at No. 2 and Great Britain’s Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris at No. 3.
