LOXAHATCHEE, Florida, Mar. 6–Impressario, ridden by Linda Alycki to team gold at the 1999 Pan American Games, was retired Sunday in a ceremony at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby. Rio, as he is called by owner Carol Cohen, is 21 years old.

The dark bay KWPN gelding by Darwin out of a Zebulon mare was imported from The Netherlands and trained and competed by Linda. In addition to the gold medal at small tour at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg, Canada, the pair went on to compete at top U.S. shows.

Impressario was bought by Carol Cohen as a schoolmaster at her Two Swans Farm in Wellington, Florida.
