ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Jan. 19–Rabobank, a major sponsor of equestrian sport in the Netherlands, has signed on to become the main sponsor of the 2011 FEI European Dressage Championships as well as extending sponsorship of the CHIO Rotterdam for two more years.

“For Rabobank, also being the main sponsor of the Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS), it was a logical decision to embrace the FEI European Dressage Championships,” said Heleen Crielaard responsible for sponsoring at Rabobank of the championships that will be held in Rotterdam Aug. 17-21. “We strongly support Top Sports as well as talent development and it is our pleasure to make it possible for many fans of equestrian sports enjoying this great event.”

“It is an honour to sign these two sponsor agreements,” said Frans Lavooij, president of the board of the CHIO Rotterdam which is organizing the FEI European Dressage Championships in cooperation with KNHS, Rotterdam Topsport and the City of Rotterdam. “We need partners like Rabobank to maintain our leading position in the equestrian sports and enable development of new talent.”

The European Championships are held once every two years and are the qualifier for the 2012 London Olympics.

The European Championships replace the annual CDIO at Rotterdam in 2011 while the CSIO jumping that is usually held in conjunction with dressage will be staged the following week. There will be no open classes for non-European competitors.
