OCALA, Florida, Jan. 2–Limited quantities of frozen semen from Totilas are being offered for €5,000 per dose by Yancey Farms, the U.S. representative for semen from the 11-year-old black stallion owned by Paul Schockemöhle of Performance Sales International of Germany.

Judy Yancey, owner of Yancey Farms, said she had been given the O.K. to take requests/orders for the 2011 season for Totilas frozen semen.

“Doses are going to be limited this season, so our final order is going in very soon,” she wrote on her Internet site. “We are not yet guaranteed that we will be able to receive the number that we want, so if you have decided you want a dose, please speak up. The number which we will be sent will be determined in January, and doubtful that we will get more this season.”

The price is €5,000 per individual insemination dose, the exchange rate to be calculated on the date of purchase and will be at the “buy” rate. At the opening of trading in 2011, the buy rate of €1 was US$1.33.

“The semen had excellent fertility last year,” Judy said, “so we know he freezes well. The lab at PSI always does such an excellent job producing the semen.”

In 2010, the only year in which Totilas semen was offered, more than 350 applications from 15 countries were received at a price of €5,500, but only about half the applicants were approved.

Totilas, now 11 years old and by Gribaldi, is registered KWPN and was recently licensed Hanoverian.
