STOCKHOLM, Nov. 27–Adelinde Cornelissen, competing Jerich Parzival for the first time since the World Equestrian Games, easily won the Grand Prix at the Stockholm International Horse Show World Cup qualifier Saturday while Anky van Grunsven placed second on Painted Black, that has a new owner.

Adelinde and the 13-year-old chestnut gelding, disqualified from WEG in Kentucky two months ago when he nicked his tongue to draw blood, scored 78.2131 per cent from the five judges, with Swedish judge Annette Fransén Iacobaéus awarding the pair 80 per cent.

The 13-year-old Painted Black, sold in August to a Spanish junior rider who trains with Anky, was ridden by the Dutch Olympic gold medalist to second place with 73.4892 per cent and Germany’s Matthias Alexander Rath on Sterntaler UNICEF was third on 71.7453 per cent. Edward Gal on Interfloor Next One was fourth on 70.9794 per cent.

The Grand Prix Freestyle will be held Sunday.

The competition was the first indoor show for Adelinde and Parzival since the World Cup Final last March where they beat Edward Gal and Totilas in the Grand Prix, their second win over the then No. 1 ranked combination and the only pair ever to do so at the Grand Prix level.

Stockholm is the third of 10 World Cup competitions in the West European League. The first two were won by Isabell Werth, one on her 2008 Olympic mount Satchmo and the other on 2007 World Cup champion Warum Nicht FRH, and is at the top of the standings.

The World Cup Final will be held in Leipzig, Germany at the end of April.

Adelinde rode Jerich Wunschtraum in the qualifier at Lyon, France, a month ago, placing 14th.
