MELBOURNE, Australia, Nov. 18–Chantal Wigan had a successful home country debut on Ferero on Thursday to win the Australian Equitana Open Grand Prix World Cup qualifier.
Chantal, who has been based in Europe since 2006 and bought Ferero a year later, scored 63.702 per cent with fellow Aussie Mary Hanna placing both second and third, with Umbro for a score of 62.468 per cent and on the 10-year-old Sancette that she bought in the U.S. earlier this year scoring 62.298 per cent.
The top combination here had been the reserve for the Australian team at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky two months ago and returned home to compete in the recent Australian Dressage Championships. However, a twisted shoe forced withdrawal.
