OTTAWA, Ontario, Apr. 8–Belinda Trussell on Thursday was named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for March, the second time she was won the award in the first three months of 2010.
At the CDI-W/Y Palm Beach Florida in March, Trussell earned a personal best score of 70.708 per cent in the Grand Prix Special riding Anton, a 10-year old gelding (Antaeous x Saxony) owned by Robyn Eames. Two weeks later at the CDI3* Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, the duo scored 70.638 per cent to win the Grand Prix class of 30 entries. The following day the pair achieved another personal best score with 73.90 per cent to win the Grand Prix Freestyle.
“Anton has really accomplished a lot and is performing way beyond my expectations this winter,” said Belinda of of Newmarket, Ontario. “He is starting to come in to himself by demonstrating all of his talent and expression.”
She was Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for January for her top international results in Florida.
Riding Anton in only his second season at Grand Prix, Belinda has spent the winter training and competing earning qualifying scores and preparing for the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky, beginning Sept. 25.
“It is really great having Robert Dover on our team,” she said. “He has really believed in Anton and assisted me in getting the most out of him in this short time.”
