RHEINBERG, Germany, Oct. 12–Isabell Werth reported Monday that she rides a little for relaxation but maintains a full teaching schedule as she awaits the birth of her first child, expected next month.

Isabell, who turned 40 earlier this year, gave an update on her Internet site under the heading “Riding for Relaxation.”

“My life is slowing down at the moment,” she wrote. “Well, I guess that’s normal when you are pregnant. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t do anything.

“I even still ride a little bit, but of course just to relax.

“My team does the training of the horses.

“But now I have a lot of time to look after them from the ground and give lessons. Apropos: A lot of people ask me for lessons right now. They all seem to believe that I should have spare time since I’m pregnant.

“That is not the case. I am in the arena every day and teach my rider, seeing all our horses from the ground. Therefore, I don’t have time for leisure. Some people here in the stable even think that I whizz around at least as ever.

“Hm. I guess I am not made for sweet idleness.”
