AMSTERDAM, Jan. 20–Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival, the defending World Cup champions, posted an easy win in the Grand Prix at the Jumping Amsterdam World Cup event Friday, as the No. 1 combination scored more than five percentage points ahead of the runnerup.
Adelinde and the 14-year-old chestnut gelding (Jazz x Ulft) scored 80.936 per cent with Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg on Damon Hill NRW second on 75.213 per cent and Isabell Werth and El Santo NRW third on 73.872 per cent.
Amsterdam is the seventh of nine qualifying competitions in the World Cup Western European League heading to the Final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, in mid-April.
The freestyle for which points will be awarded for the WEL standings is scheduled for Saturday.
As the title holder, Adelinde has only to complete two World Cup qualifiers to assure a place in the final. She competed in the Mechelen, Belgium, World Cup event a month ago so Amsterdam would be enough for her to qualify.
The WEL is led by Patrik Kittel of Sweden.
