WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 23, 2025–Christian Simonson on Indian Rock became U.S. Grand Prix Champion completing a sweep of the three qualifying competitions and also captured the Under-25 Brentina Cup title on on Saturday. Adrienne Lyle, the three-time Olympian who is Christian’s coach, claimed the developing Prix St. Georges title.
Christian, based in Wellington, Florida who will be 23 years old next week became the youngest ever American Grand Prix champion with the victory in the Freestyle on a score of 79.430% following winning scores in the Grand Prix of 73.783% and 73.191% in the Special.
Meagan Davis of the Wellington area community of Loxahatchee, on Toronto Lightfoot, 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding, was runner-up on 72.595% in the freestyle to clinch the reserve championship.
Indian Rock was bought by Heidi Humphries’ Zen Elite Equestrian Center of Ft. Lauderdale, an hour south of Wellington, after being ridden by Emmelie Scholtens on the Netherlands team at the Paris Olympics last summer. Emmelie and Indian Rock began international championship career as a 5-year-old at the World Young Horse event then on Dutch teams at the 2022 World Championships, the 2023 European Championships and the Paris Olympics last summer.
Christian was the youngest U.S. rider on the U.S. gold medal team at the 2023 Pan American Games where he rode Son of a Lady, his successful youth competition partner.
Christian on Fleau de Baian, 15-year-old Dutch-bred stallion bought by Zen Elite almost two years ago from Netherlands’ team rider Adelinde Cornelissen, added the Under-25 title Saturday with a narrow victory on 72.820% in the Freestyle. Christian and the horse
Adrienne Lyle on Hussmanns Topgun, nine-year-old Danish Warmblood sired by Totilas, claimed the developing Prix St. Georges championship with a score of 73.425% in the final following a winning result of 72.549% in the preliminary competition.
Rebecca Rigdon of Encinitas, California on MSJ For VIPs, eight-year-old Oldenburg gelding, scored 69.398% in the final for reserve champion. Rebecca and the British-bred horse competed at the 2023 and 2024 World Young Horse Championships.
