WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 27, 2025–Kevin Kohmann and Dünensee moved a step closer to their second World Cup Final when pair won the CDI-W Grand Prix Thursday a day ahead of the last Freestyle to decide the third North American place for the championship.
Kevin based at Diamante Farms in Wellington and the 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored a personal best 71.522% for the victory.
Anna Marek of the Ocala area community of Dunnellon and Fire Fly, 15-year-old KWPN gelding, was runner-up on 70.152%.
Kevin with 57 points and Anna with 54 points are the last two North Americans with a chance to make the World Cup Final in Basel, Switzerland the first week of April. U.S. Olympic team partnership of Adrienne Lyle and Helix based in Wellington and Geñay Vaughn and Gino, based at Elk Grove, California have qualified with the maximum of 60 points.
Both Kevin and Anna, who competed at the 2024 Final in Saudi Arabia, will settle the third spot with their musical performances Friday night.
Anna and Fire Fly were on the U.S. gold medal team at the 2023 Pan American Games.
