Jordan LaPlaca and Gold Play have withdrawn to be replaced by Kasey Perry-Glass on Heartbeat W.P. on the United States team for the World Championships beginning next week.
US Equestrian announced the switch with no explanation as to the reason for the withdrawal of Jordan of Ledyard, Connecticut, and Gold Play, 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding.
“In the spirit of staying true to my core convictions as a horseman and as a committed partner to my horse, Gold Play, I have decided to withdraw from this year’s FEI Dressage World Championships,” he was quoted in a statement by the federation.
“Gold Play is OK and that is the most important thing. But as a member of the U.S. team, I have to do what is best not only for my horse, but for the entire team as well.”
Kasey, based in Wellington, Florida, had earlier been named a reserve on Heartbeat, 14-year-old Dutch-bred gelding.
Kasey was on the 2016 bronze medal team at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and the silver medal team at the World Championships in Tryon in 2018.
The other three members of the Dutta Corp. U.S. team are Ashley Holzer on Hawtins San Floriana, Christian Simonson on Fleau de Baian and Geñay Vaughn on Gino.
