Fürstenball, an historic influential stallion, has died at the age of 20.

Lone Boegh Henriksen and Paul Schockemöhle announced Fürstenball’s passing.

“He was truly something very special and can quite rightly be described as one of the most influential sires of all time.” the joint owners declared. Not only did he pass on his wonderfully elegant conformation and his brilliant basic gaits, but above all his character–always eager to perform and people-oriented. He was truly exceptional in every respect. We are incredibly grateful to this icon of modern dressage horse breeding.”

Fürstenball is currently ranked amongst the top 20 in the world breeding rankings of dressage sires.

He has nearly 40 Grand Prix-winning offspring, led by Heiline’s Danciera, 4th in Olympic team competition and 7th as individual, as well as a European Championship team bronze medallist.

Among Fürstenball’s championship-winning offspring is also Poesie/Heidemarie Dresing (Grade II), the Para European Championship individual and team gold medallist.

Fürstenball sired more than 100 licensed sons, including the European Championship competitor Fuerstenglory OLD ridden by Severo Jurado Lopez of Spain, and the Champion Stallion, Bundeschampion and Burg-Pokal third-place finisher Fürsten-Look ridden by Norway’s Isabel Freese.
Five of Fürstenball’s offspring have won gold at the Bundeschampinat, led by Feine Bella NRW, who is also a Westfalen Champion, 7th-placed at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and currently qualified for the Burg-Pokal final.

The numerous auction highlights at the Fürstenball are led by the Performance Sales International auction’s sensational €1.7 million sale, Force Majeure ex. Fürst Bayram – Oldenburg State Champion, 11th in the Bundeschampionat and a runner-up in the Inter. II class ridden by Frederic Wandres and now by Yara Reichert.

His collection of more than 330 premium mares also includes the Oldenburg Champion Mare, Bundeschampionat silver and bronze medallist and two-time State Champion, Fiesta Danza OLD; the Hanoverian Champion Mare, Fine Lady, and the Oldenburg Champion Mare and State Champion Five-Star.

Fürstenball had always been based at Paul Schockemöhle’s stud farm in Mühlen, Germany.
