FORT WORTH, Texas, April 8, 2026–Ecuador’s Julio Mendoza Loor on Jewel’s Goldstrike will be first of 16 horse and rider combinations into the World Cup dressage Grand Prix Thursday to qualify for the Freestyle when a new champion will be crowned.
Three USA riders make up the most from any one of the 13 nations to compete in the event being staged for the first time in Fort Worth, the 11th largest city in the United States.
Of the three Americans: Kevin Kohmann on Dünensee, 17-year-old gelding, goes at 7:19pm local/8pm US Eastern Time/02:00 Friday Central European Time, Benjamin Ebeling on Bellena, 16-year-old mare, starts next nine minutes later.
Christian Simonson on the 13-year-old stallion Indian Rock is at 8.28pm/9:28pm US ET, 03:28 CET.
Christian Simonson is the highest ranked American rider at 12th in the world.
Becky Moody, the highest world ranked rider at No. 5, rides Jagerbomb, her home-bred gelding which she competed on medal-winning British teams at the 2024 Olympics and the 2025 European Championships. She is scheduled for 9:13pm local/10:13pm US ET/04:13 CET.
Patrik Kittel on Touchdown, the 14-year-old Swedish gelding he rode to the title in 2024 and is competing in Fort Worth, is slated to ride nine minutes ahead of Becky.
The draw for the first competitions in dressage jumping was held at an event in the restaurant and entertainment heart of Fort Worth.
