Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualification procedures for team and individual competitions were confirmed Monday by the FEI (International Equestrian Federation).
The quota is for 57 places out of a total of 60–the United States as host nation is qualified as long as minimum competition requirements are met.
The minimum eligibility requirement is two scores of at least 67% awarded by a level 4 judge of a nationality different than the competitor and as as an average of all judges in Grand Prix at CDI3* and above between Jan. 1, 2027 and June 11, 2028.
Fifteen teams of three rider and horse combinations from 15 nations–14 plus the host USA–can qualify.
Qualifying events:
–Six highest ranked teams from the World Championships in Aachen, Germany Aug. 11-23, 2026;
–Two highest ranked teams, one each from Olympic Groups F (Africa/Middle East) and G (Sotheast Asia/Oceania) at World Championships in Aachen;
–Three highest ranked teams from the European Championships in Randboel, Denmark in August, 2027–one each from Olympic Groups A (Northwestern Europe), B (Southwestern Europe) and C (Central/Eastern Europe, Central Asia);
–Two highest ranked teams. one each from Groups D (North America) and/or E (Central/South America) from 2027 Pan American Games at Lima, Peru July 16-31, 2027. and
–One team from Group C at a venue on a date to be decided.
Individuals–total of 15 from countries that have not qualified a team.
–10 athletes with two each from Groups A, B, C, F and G
–Four made up of two each from Olympic Groups D and E, and
–One from FEI Olympic rankings.
