Riders from Russia and Belarus will be able to compete in team competitions under a neutral flag from Jan. 1, 2026, ending suspensions imposed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The board of the FEI, the International Equestrian Federation, eased the suspension of participation in horse sports that had been imposed following a recommendation by the International Olympic Committee in February 2022 due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The decision to “allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in team competitions under a neutral flag” was made by the FEI board meeting in Hong Kong.

FEI events can also be organized in Belarus at the same time as the participation of riders is permitted, Jan. 1.
