MILL SPRING, North Carolina, Oct. 24, 2025–Julio Mendoza Loor of Ecuador on Jewel’s Goldstrike won the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday in the last of the 25 qualifying events of the inaugural $250,000 U.S. Open.

Julio, who rides for his native Ecuador but is based in North Carolina, and the KWPN gelding, the first ever dressage pair to compete in an Olympics as they did in Paris last year, were awarded 69.978% in the pair’s first competition since the Florida winter circuit.

Laine Ashker of Chesterfield, Virginia and the 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding, was runner-up on 67.044%.

Canada’s Alexandra Duncan on Hitmaker, 13-year-old KWPN stallion, scored 66.435% for third.

The last US Open qualifier is the Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday.
