US Equestrian is increasing its fees by an average of more than 44 per cent over next four months beginning Dec. 1–the lowest boost of 21% for annual horse recording to a high of 88.8% for show passes.

The increases were announced Monday by US Equestrian President Thomas O’Mara and Chief Executive Officer William Moroney.

A statement by the federation said that member fees had not been increased in more than eight years and listed six areas in which activities will be launched or expanded “to protect the welfare of horses and athletes, to uphold fairness and integrity of competition, and to ensure that equestrian sport thrives for generations to come.”

The fee changes to come into effect Dec. 1:

–Administrative $10 from $8 (up 25%), and

–Show passes $85 from $45 (up 88.8%).

Effective April 1:

–Competing Membership fee $100 from $80 (up 25%);
–Subscriber Membership Fee $35 from $25 (up 40%);
–Annual Horse Recording $115 from $95 (up 21%);
–Lifetime Horse Recording $500 from $300 (up 66.6%);
–Individual Lifetime Foal Recording $50 from $35 (up 42.8%).

US Equestrian is the national governing body for 29 breeds and disciplines, including the three Olympic sports of dressage, eventing and jumping.

“Over the last two decades, equestrian sport has grown larger, more complex, and more visible than ever before,” the federation said in its statement. “With this growth comes not only opportunity, but also an immense responsibility–to protect the welfare of horses and athletes, to uphold fairness and integrity of competition, and to ensure that equestrian sport thrives for generations to come.

“Our members have told us they want to see increased focus from us in the areas of horse welfare and research, safety (including addressing the ever-increasing biosecurity threats), technology, and member/fan engagement in keeping with our strategic plan.”

Programs to be expanded or created, it said, are:

–Increasing investments in research on equine competition recovery, lameness, nutrition and vitamins/supplements;
–Expanding regulatory and investigative team to ensure more expedient processing of reported cases and resolutions;
–Building on veterinary aspects with ongoing partnerships in equine health, providing best practices for all breeds and disciplines;
–Debuting EZ Entry in 2026 of a free and fully integrated competition management software to streamline participation;
–Creating a cutting-edge continuing education portal to serve all participants, and
–Deepening partnerships with data analysts to enhance safety and the championship experience, giving fans stronger connections and new reasons to celebrate athletes.
