WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 21, 2025–Sabine Schut-Kery on Jojoba de Massa claimed the U.S. Intermediare 1 championship Thursday, winning the Freestyle for a sweep of the division.
Sabine of San Marcos, California and the 11-year-old Portuguese Sport Horse were awarded 74.150% by the panel of five American judges in deciding the first title of the week-long event. The pair won the Prix St. Georges and Int. 1 earlier. The horse is owned by Akiko Yamazaki who had a string of horses with Steffen Peters that competed in five of the rider’s six Olympics.
Lauren Sprieser of Marshall, Virginia on C. Cadeau, nine-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, was runner-up on 72.135% for reserve champion.
Natalya Slipchenko, of Davis, California and the nine-year-old Westfalen gelding Fortunatto EDI placed third on 71.395% in the musical performance.
