WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 19, 2025–Sabine Schut-Kery and Jojoba de Massa won the Intermediaire 1 Tuesday for the second straight victory in the US national championship.
Sabine and the 11-year-old Portuguese Sport Horse scored 71.412% for the Int. 1 win a day after capturing the opening day Prix St. Georges. Sabine of San Marcos, California and Jojoba, a Portuguese Sport Horse stallion, need only a high placing in the Freestyle scheduled for Thursday to clinch the title.
Sabine and Jojoba owned by Akiko Yamazaki, began competing in California at the beginning of 2024 including one CDI at Temecula in May.
The second and third placings Tuesday were reversed from the St. Georges.
Lauren Sprieser of Marshall, Virginia on C. Cadeau, nine-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, was runner-up on 70.353%. The pair placed third Monday.
Elizabeth Bortuzzo of Frenchtown, New Jersey on Vincent, eight-year-old Oldenburg gelding, was close behind on 70.294% to place third.
