Success for 11-year-old Lilly Kasselmann on her pony, Charly Brown, with six wins in six starts at the Global Dressage Festival has created a dilemma for the family.

Charly, a 17-year-old Rhinelander gelding (FS Champion De Luxe x FS Don’t Worry) is owned by Ragna Wächter, according to the FEI database.

The business of Francois Kasselmann, Lilly’s father and active in the business of Hof Kasselmann of Hagen, Germany. Their primary business is breeding, development and sale of horses.

This was the first year Lilly came with her family to Wellington to compete Charly Brown at international level.

The duo has scored at least 70% in all six classes.

Ponies in dressage in the United States are rare, though popular in hunters.

Francois wants to offer Charly Brown for sale.

Lilly’s response: “No, no, no.”

She did an end run around her father–Lilly appealed to her grandfather, Ullrich Kasselmann, not to sell Charly Brown.
