WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 20, 2025–Germany won its fifth straight Nations Cup at the Global Dressage Festival Thursday, with USA taking silver and Sweden bronze.

The German team scored 207.022 points followed by USA on 201.565 and Sweden 190.761.

Evelyn Eger on Tabledance was the top scoring German combination and top in the class with a personal best 70.435%.

The top two scoring Americans were the wife and husband team of Devon Kane on Vamos with 67.435% and Kevin Kohmann on Giulietta with 67.309%. They are based at Diamante Farms in Wellington and both horses are making their CDI debuts this year.

Australia and Canada were eliminated after riders in their three-member teams went off course.

Michael Klimke, both chef d’equipe of the team and a competitor on the U.S.-owned Harmony’s Fado said the key to Germany’s success is teamwork: “year for year we plan it.”

Evelyn Eger, in her first year in Wellington, rode Tabledance that is a Totilas offspring, owned by Hof Kasselmann where she works in Hagen, Germany.

We really tried to have a good team and finally that was it.

Tabledance, she said, felt “really good in the warm-up, so I could go into the test very relaxed. So I did an easy trot work to give her the confidence. Then I led her through the piaffe-passage where I think she got really good points.

“This year is very special because I think I’m the new one in the team, because before there were many young ones in the team. So I was a bit kind of shy because the team was already super close. But I was perfectly included from the beginning.”

Felicitas Hendricks, the second highest scoring German on Drombusch that she rode for European Under-25 Championship for gold in 2023, said Wellington “feels like home ground” as she has been competing here in winters since a Junior rider in 2015.

“I feel very comfortable, very secure here,” she said. “It’s like a warm blanket that wraps around you.”

Devon Kane said that being able to ride on a Nations Cup with my husband is a fantastic feeling and a real testament, I think, to our commitment to the sport and to helping each other and helping our team do well. It’s such an honor to be able to represent the U.S. at any Nations Cup, but to do so with your husband next to you and cheering for you and riding with you is extremely special.”
