NEUMÜNSTER, Germany, Feb. 16, 2025–Denmark’s Nanna Skodborg Merrald and her Olympic silver medal mount Blue Hors Zepter narrowly won the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday to move the rider into position to earn an invitation to the rider’s fourth championship Final.
Nanna and the 17-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored 81.465% for the win that also gave the pair a total of 55 points and likely enough to go to the Final in Basel, Switzerland in April.
It edged Isabel Freese of Norway on the 13-year-old Oldenburg stallion Total Hope OLD into runner-up on 81.265%. Isabel and the Totilas son won the Grand Prix Saturday and the musical performance moved the rider up in the rankings.
France’s Corentin Pottier on Gotilas du Feuillard, 14-year-old KWPN gelding, placed third on a personal best 80.290%.
Isabell Werth of Germany remains atop the Western European standings with two more qualifiers remaining.
The next WEL World Cup event is in Gothenburg, Sweden later this week.
