NEUMÜNSTER, Germany, Feb. 15, 2025–Isabel Freese of Norway, seeking to earn a start in the World Cup Final, rode the Totilas son Total Hope OLD to victory in the CDI-W Grand Prix Saturday.
Isabel, based in Germany, and the 13-year-old Oldenburg stallion that competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, scored 75.739% for the win.
The Freestyle is scheduled for Sunday when Isabel hopes to earn enough points to boost her chances of earning a start in the championship in Basel, Switzerland the first week of April.
Denmark’s Nanna Skodborg Merrald, in a similar position of needing more points in the Western European League to make the Final, was runner-up on 74.761% on her Olympic mount Blue Hors Zepter, 17-year-old Oldenburg gelding.
Raphael Netz of Germany and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding Great Escape Camelot placed third on 73.217%.
After the Freestyle in Neumünster Sunday, only two qualifiers remain for Western Europe which is led by Isabell Werth, world No. 1 and five-time World Cup champion.
