DEL MAR, California, Feb. 14, 2025–Geñay Vaughn on Gino dominated the World Cup Grand Prix Friday to extend a winning streak to five and come within one ride of earning an invitation to their first senior championship.
Geñay of Elk Grove, California and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding were awarded 70.739% in their third World Cup event seeking a start in the Final at Basel, Switzerland the first week of April.
The duo already have 40 points and Saturday will be going for their third result to give them the maximum of 60 points to join Olympian Adrienne Lyle and Helix to fill two of the three places reserved for North America at the championship.
Canada’s Brittney Simpson on Kartsevo Goldfinch, 14-year-old KWPN stallion, scored 64.587% for runner-up.
Laura DeCesari of Tucson, Arizona on the 12-year-old Andalusian gelding Iniesto placed third on 64.544%.
