FRANKFURT, Germany, Dec. 21, 2024–Katharina Hemmer and the American-German owned Denoix PCH posted a personal best score to win the CDI5* Grand Prix Special Saturday to log a seventh victory in 14 starts to complete the most successful year in the 30-year-old German rider’s career.
Katharina and the 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding were awarded 77.745% to beat out world No. 1 rider Isabell Werth who was runner-up on DSP Quantaz.
The result for Katharina and Denoix, owned by Nancy Gooding of Plum Creek Hollow Farm in Larkspur, Colorado and Hubertus Schmidt, the German Olympian and renowned coach, beat out their previous best of 77.170% set in Hagen, Germany three months ago.
The result for Katharina was similar to the same Christmas event in 2023 when Katharina and Denoix topped Isabell on Superb. Katharina took over the ride from Hubertus in 2023 when he was dealing with health issues.
Isabell, the world No. 1 ranked rider and most successful Olympic equestrian in history and standing sixth overall in the 14 medals she has won, placed second on the 14-year-old German Sport Horse DSP Quantaz on 73.766%. The pair won the Grand Prix Friday to also log their seventh victory this year.
Dorothee Schneider rounded out the top three placings for Germany with First Romance, 14-year-old Baden-Württemberg gelding, on a score of 72.851%.
This event was the last for the top two combinations in 2024.
