STOCKHOLM, Dec. 1, 2024–Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour and Mount St. John Freestyle became the 11th rider and horse combination to join the 90% Club which the pair did Sunday in winning the Stockholm Top 10 CDI5* Grand Prix Freestyle.
Cathrine and the 15-year-old Hanoverian mare were awarded 90.715% in the so-called Top 10 competition that had six pairs in the Freestyle.
The result came exactly a year since the pair’s first international competition on Dec. 1, 2023 and the 11th start since the Danish rider took over the ride 2 1/2 years after the previous rider, Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin.
Cathrine and Freestyle led Denmark to team silver at the Paris Olympics four months ago.
Cathrine was already a member of the 90% Club which she achieved two years ago on Bohemian, her Tokyo Olympic mount and now matches the two horses that Isabell Werth rode to 90%. Bohemian is now ridden ridden by Endel Ots of the United States and owned by Zen Elite Equestrian Center in Florida.
Isabell on her Paris Olympic team gold and individual silver partner Wendy de Fontaine, 10-year-old Danish Warmblood mare, was runner-up on 89.065% in Sunday’s Freestyle.
Isabell is the most successful equestrian in history and with 14 Olympic medals the 6th ranked athlete of all time.
She rode both Bella Rose and Weihegold OLD to 90% results.
Dinja van Liere of the Netherlands on Hermes, the 12-year-old stallion that was her Paris Olympic partner, placed third on 84.805%.
