Mount St. John Freestyle has shot up to the top horse in the world while rider Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour of Denmark has climbed to No. 2 in the world behind Germany’s Isabell Werth in rankings at the end of October.
The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) rankings released Monday showed the 15-year-old Hanoverian mare jumped to No. 1 from 52nd in the past month boosted by a double victory at the World Cup event in Herning.
Freestyle’s total of 2032 points from results at the Paris Olympics and two events at Denmark’s Herning venue edged the horse past Wendy de Fontaine that was ridden by Isabell Werth and held the top spot in September. Cathrine has competed Freestyle at Big Tour less than a year.
Isabell, however, with 2062 points remained the highest ranked rider for the third straight month.
Cathrine moved up two spots to No. 2 rider on 2032 points.
Great Britain’s Charlotte Fry was the third ranked rider the same placing as her mount, Glamourdale, that was one slot lower for both from the previous month.
