HOOK, England, Oct. 5, 2024–Lewis Carrier rode Diego V to a personal best score to win the Wellington CDI3* Grand Prix Saturday for the first Big Tour victory for the British partnership.
Lewis and the 16-year-old KWPN gelding were awarded 71.283% for the first win since beginning senior Grand Prix in March 2022.
Fellow Briton Ellen McCarthy on the 10-year-old gelding Brave Heart was runner-up also on a personal best 70.891%.
Italy’s Nathalie Wahlund on Gorklintgards Scorpion, also a 10-year-old gelding, added to the string of personal bests with 69.174% for third place.
USA’s Ashley Holzer competing Hawtin’s San Floriana in the pair’s first international event in the land of the 12-year-old mare’s birth placed sixth on 67.239%. Ashley of Wellington, Florida and San Floriana competed in Florida and Hagen, Germany earlier this year.
