Marcus Orlob will ride Jane in the Dressage at Devon World Cup this week in the U.S. team partnership’s first competition since the Paris Olympics.

Marcus entered the Devon show on Philadelphia’s Main Line to provide some atmosphere for the 10-year-old mare that reacted to crowds in Europe in competitions leading to the Olympics.

“I want to do Devon to give her another chance and or experience in quite busy atmosphere,” Marcus told dressage-news.com.

Devon is the first qualifier in North America for the World Cup final in Switzerland next April, the only international senior championship in which U.S. riders can compete in 2025.

“If World Cup happens,” he said, “fine. If not it’s OK.

“My long term goal would be again to go to Europe and show over there with no pressure, just mileage and hopefully no stress.”

Marcus and Jane were one of three combinations on the U.S. team in Paris, the first Olympics for for the rider. Suppenkasper ridden by Steffen Peters has been retired. Adrienne Lyle competed other horses in the U.S. championships since the Games but not her Olympic mount, Helix.

There are 21 entries in the World Cup qualifier beginning the campaign to be one of three North American combinations that can compete in the field of 18 pairs from around the world at the final.

Aside from Marcus and Jane, owned by Alice Tarjan, is Kevin Kohnmann of Wellington, Florida who will ride Duenensee, the horse he competed at this year’s final in Saudi Arabia.
