AMSTERDAM, Jan. 26, 2024–Charlotte “Lottie” Fry on her Olympic team medal mount Everdale won the World Cup Grand Prix Friday to stay on track to earn an invitation to the Final in Saudi Arabia in April.
Lottie and the 15-year-old KWPN stallion were awarded 77.761% for the win to kick off the Briton’s 2024 competition season after victory in Mechelen and second place in London the last weeks of 2023.
Germany’s Isabell Werth and DSP Quantaz, 14-year-old German Sport Horse gelding, was runner-up on 76.869% with marks similar to those of the winning combination except for one judge marking the pair down to 73.370% and placing the duo sixth.
Patrik Kittel of Sweden, already atop the Western European standings, rode the Swedish Wamblood gelding Touchdown to third place on 75.848%.
The Freestyle to determine points toward qualifying for the Final is scheduled for Saturday.
