BASEL, Switzerland, Jan. 13, 2024–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB won the World Cup Freestyle for the reigning champion’s 13th score above 90% while Isabell Werth and the 18-year-old Emilio posted the highest score in four years for runner-up.
Jessica and the Trakehner mare now 17 years old scored 91.010% for an undefeated record since the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021.
Although Jessica is the World Cup champion who needs only two results to go to the Final she has said she will not put the horse through the long flight to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the championship.
Isabell Werth on Emilio, the 18-year-old Westfalen gelding that has never been competed in an international championship, was runner-up on 87.950%%.
This was the second highest score for Emilio, the top mark being 88.450% at Neumünster, Germany four years ago.
As in the Grand Prix, Matthias Alexander Rath rounded out the top placings for Germany with third on 74.696% on Destacado FRH, 11-year-old Hanoverian stallion.
The next Western European League qualifier for the World Cup is in Amsterdam in two weeks.
