BASEL, Switzerland, Jan. 12, 2024–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB easily won the World Cup Grand Prix Friday for the 31st straight victory for the partnership.
Jessica and the Trakehner mare, officially 17 years old, were awarded 82.500% for the win. Since a sweep of the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021, the German duo has scored below 80% in 14 Grand Prix starts only once, 79.922% at the World Cup Final in Omaha last April.
Jessica as World Cup champion the past two years needs only to compete Dalera twice to qualify for the Final but has said she will not put the horse through the long flight to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the championship centered on the musical freestyle.
Isabell Werth on Emilio, the 18-year-old Westfalen gelding that has never been competed in an international championship, was runner-up on 78.870%. Isabell first competed internationally on Emilio at Small Tour in 2014 and moved up to Grand Prix a year later.
Matthias Alexander Rath rounded out the top placings for Germany with third on 74.696% on Destacado FRH, 11-year-old Hanoverian stallion.
The Freestyle to decide points in this seven of 11 World Cup qualifiers in Western Europe is scheduled for Saturday.
