THERMAL, California, Dec. 15, 2025–Venezuela’s Patricia Ferrando in her first international competition in California won both the World Cup and the CDI3* Grand Prix Friday.

Patricia, based in Wellington but who has competed extensively throughout the Americas as well as in Europe, won the World Cup Grand Prix on Honnaisseur SJ, 11-year-old KWPN gelding, with 65.674%. The duo competed at the Pan American Games in Santiago two months ago.

Patty Mayer of Camarillo, California, on Pio was runner-up on 60.304% in the Big Tour debut of Patty and the 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding.

Tina Caldwell and Lagerfeld, the only other combination in the class, were eliminated.

On Elvis, Patricia’s 14-year-old KWPN gelding that was her partner in the Central American Games in June winning both the Grand Prix and the Special, she won the CDI3* Grand Prix on 67.522%.

Amelia Newcomb on Harvard was second on 65.565% and Elizabeth Ball on Escarigo third on 65.087%.
