LONDON, Dec.14, 2023–Charlotte Dujardin and Imhotep won the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Thursday night to earn the British pair’s first points toward qualifying for the Final in Saudi Arabia next April. The rising star partnership of Becky Moody and the nine-year-old Jagerbomb placed third in their first freestyle.
Charlotte and the 10-year-old KWPN gelding were awarded 89.465%, with three of the five judges marking the duo above 90% after an enthusiastic packed house clapped rhythmically the final centerline.
The total was slightly below the musical performance at the European Championships that was their last competition three months ago. The duo were on the silver medal squad at the 2022 World Championships.
Charlotte “Lottie” Fry on her Tokyo Olympic mount Everdale, the sire of Imhotep, was runner-up on 85.040% as the pair was in the Grand Prix 24 hours earlier..
The 14-year-old stallion was Lottie’s ride on the bronze medal team at the Tokyo Olympics and the same year was on the British team to take silver at the European Championships.
Becky Moody, as she did in the Grand Prix, made up Britain’s sweep of the top three places with the 9-year-old KWPN gelding Jagerbomb.
Becky and Jagerbomb scored 83.675% following the Grand Prix Wednesday night that was a personal best in only the fourth Grand Prix since the pair started Big Tour seven months ago.
The next qualifier in the World Cup Western European League is in Mechelen, Belgium the week between Christmas and New Year.
