Cesar Hirsch has been returned for a second successive four-year term as President of the Pan American Equestrian Confederation (PAEC).
The 51-year-old Venezuelan, who was standing unopposed, was re-elected by an overwhelming majority of 25 votes in favor with a single vote against, at the PAEC Extraordinary General Assembly held during the FEI General Assembly in Mexico City.
Hirsch, who returned from Chile earlier this month after coordinating delivery of the hugely successful Santiago 2023 Pan American Games equestrian events, is a member of the FEI Equine Ethics and Wellbeing Commission. He served a first term as PAEC President from 2019 to 2023 and has been a member of the PAEC Board since 2014.
Cesar Hirsch was re-elected earlier this month as the PAEC Board Member representing FEI Regional Group 5, allowing him to put forward his candidacy for a second term as PAEC President under PAEC statutes.
“Cesar Hirsch Diz has led PAEC with exceptional dedication and vision, which has translated into remarkable success for our organization,” Venezuelan National Federation Secretary General Maria Fernanda Faria stated in a letter of support for Cesar’s candidacy. We take immense pride in recognizing the significant achievements that PAEC has attained under his astute leadership. With full confidence, we believe he will continue to uphold the highest standards and deliver exemplary performance that has become synonymous with his tenure.”
Cesar Hirsch said after his re-election: “I am truly humbled by the level of support I have received from our national federations and I pledge to devote myself to working tirelessly for the betterment of the sport in our region, with a laser focus on equine wellbeing. The quality of the sport at the recent Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, with its pathway to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, could not have been a better endorsement of the incredible improvement in standards throughout the Americas.
“Working together as a team, not just within the PAEC board but with all our national federations, we will face up to our challenges and build on the successes we have achieved over the past four years. We have a lot of work to do, and a lot to look forward to as well.”
The re-election of FEI Group IV Deputy Chair Monique Archer (BAR) as the Group IV representative on the PAEC Board earlier this month was also ratified during today’s PAEC EGA.
