LYON, France, Nov. 3, 2023–Frederic Wandres of Germany rode Bluetooth OLD to victory in the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Friday in the last competition for the German team rider before heading to Florida for the Wellington winter circuit.

Frederic and the 13-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored 83.415% for the musical performance to give the pair a double victory here and the ninth win so far this year, six.

Frederic and Bluetooth. ranked No. 7 in the world, were on Germany’s silver medal team at the European Championships two months ago.

He told dressage-news.com that this was the last competition before leaving for Florida at the end of December. Frederic rides for Hof Kasselmann of Hagen, Germany that operates a farm in the Wellington area and owns Bluetooth. Frederic was the top money earner on Wellington’s Global Dressage Festival circuit last winter.

Denmark’s Nanna Skodberg Merrald on Blue Hors St. Schufro, 12-year-old Hanoverian stallion, was awarded 82.995% for runner-up, as they were in the Grand Prix.

Pauline Basquin of France rode Sertorius de Rima Z IFCE to a personal best score of 80.815% for third place. Pauline and the 13-year-old Zangersheide gelding owned by the Institut Francaise du Cheval de l’Equitation, have made a significant impact with high placings in premier events this year.

Stuttgart, Germany is the next Western European League qualifier for the World Cup Final in Saudi Arabia next April.
