OCALA, Florida, Sept. 14, 2023–Ashley Holzer rode the 10-year-old Hansel to victory in the World Equestrian Center CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday , the rider’s first competition since an injury to her right arm kept her out of the saddle for close to four months.
Riding in the first Olympic qualifying competition for a place on the American team at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Ashley and the KWPN gelding scored 69.957% in the pair’s second Big Tour competition.
The duo made their debut at this facility in April but shortly after broke her arm, the injury causing her severe pain.
Ashley, based in Wellington, was on the team with Valentine at the 2022 World Championships that earned the United States a start in Paris.
She competes the 13-year-old mare Valentine in the CDI3* for the Special Friday night.
Hansel is owned by P.J. Rizvi, who also owned Breaking Dawn, the horse that Ashley rode at the 2012 Olympics in London while still competing for Canada.
Anna Marek of Dunnellon,an Ocala area community, placed second on 68.044% on Fayvel, 13-year-old KWPN gelding.
Venezuela’s Patricia Ferrando on Elvis, 14-year-old KWPN gelding.
