ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, June 22, 2023–Morgan Barbançon on Habana Libre A led France to historic and dominating performances to the lead midway through the CDIO4* Nations Cup Thursday. Germany was standing second and Sweden third.
Morgan and Habana Libre, the 11-year-old KWPN gelding on which was the rider’s most successful mount in her inaugural Wellington, Florida circuit last winter, scored 72.696% to finish first individually. The rider competed at the Olympics in London in 2012 and Tokyo,
Team mates Pauline Basquin on Sertorius de Rima Z was second individually on 72.500% and Corentin Pottier on Gotilas du Feuillard placing fourth on 72.326% in an unprecedented position for France in the dressage Nations Cup series launched in 2013. Pauline was on the French team at the 2022 World Championships.
The Netherlands’ Emmelie Scholtens recovering from a knee operation three months ago, rode Indian Rock to third place on 72.478%.
The standings after the Grand Prix with the Special and the Freestyle to be staged Saturday: 1. France 7 points (decided by placings of three scores that count for each team); 2. Germany 24; 3. Sweden 31; 4. Great Britain 35; 5. Belgium 46; 6. Netherlands 47; 7. United States.
