OCALA, Florida, April 15, 2023–Anna Marek and Fire Fly doubled down on success with victory Saturday in the World Equestrian Center CDI3* Grand Prix Special on a personal best score a day after a similar performance in the Grand Prix.
Anna, of the Ocala area community of Dunnellon, and the 13-year-old KWPN gelding scored 74.468% for the victory. The duo won the Grand Prix, also on a personal best, 72.217%.
Anna is focused on developing Fire Fly in Big Tour competitions as she has been riding in CDI Grand Prix for just over a year. She is pointing Duvel, a 15-year-old KWPN gelding, as her prospect for the U.S. team for the Pan American Games in Santiago in the fall.
Katie Duerrhammer of Wellington and Paxton, a 12-year-old Westfalen gelding, was runner-up in the Special on 73.213%.
Ashley Holzer also of Wellington and the 10-year-old Hansel were third on 72.638%.
Sarah Tubman and First Apple were awarded 70.574%, the only other duo in the lineup of 15 starting combination to score at least 70%.
