OMAHA, Nebraska, April 7, 2023–Torveslettens Titanium RS2 ridden by Marieke van der Putten of the Netherlands was withdrawn from the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Friday night after the 11-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding suffered a colic.
It was the third horse withdrawn in Omaha–Franziskus ridden by Germany’s Ingrid Klimke and Hermes competed by Dinja van Liere of the Netherlands with the other two.
The Dutch Royal Equestrian Federation said, “We were utterly surprised this morning that Torveslettens Titanium RS2 was colicky. It has never happened before.
“For the welfare of the horse and to keep him pain free, he has been withdrawn from the Freestyle.
“Marieke van der Putten is devastated. It is very unusual but all we want to do is keep him comfortable and listen to the horse.”
The latest withdrawal cuts the starting lineup to 13 combinations.
