WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 26, 2023–Andrea Woodward on Sunday qualified Kaliber for the Prix St. Georges “Future Challenge” final that will cap the Global Dressage Festival winter series.
Andrea, based in Wellington, and the eight-year-old KWPN gelding (Franklin x Rubin Royal OLD) placed second on 72.450% behind Ashley Holzer, also of Wellington on Francis on 72.548% in the event sponsored by Buffalo Wings. The top two qualifiers move to the final at the end of March.
Kaliber came over from Europe as a coming six-year-old to be sold at the newly established Helgstrand USA in Wellington where Andrea was at the time.
“He was a bit green and behind when he arrived,” said Andrea. “But as he got settled I started to realize how talented he really is. So over the summer my client, Annette Grant, bought Kaliber, and she has allowed me develop him, which I am extremely grateful for.
“He has the most unique temperament… I’ll have to give him a 10!’
