WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 23, 2023–Spain’s Pablo Gomez Molina rode the P.R.E. gelding Ulises de Ymas to victory on a personal best score in the CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday to log the rider’s first Big Tour win at his American base of Wellington’s Global Dressage Festival.
Pau, as the rider is known, and the 13-year-old P.R.E. gelding scored 71.087% to top the lineup of 30 riders and horses from 14 nations.
The 28-year-old rider who competes on both sides of the Atlantic on Ymas horses, said the victory was “a dream come true” of winning at Big Tour in Wellington for the first time. He is coached by Spanish Olympic and world championship rider Jose Daniel Marin Dockx.
Pau and Ulises won their only previous Big Tour competition at Ocala’s World Equestrian Center in 2021.
Great Britain’s Susan Pape and Harmony’s Eclectisch, 14-year-old KWPN stallion, was second on 70.587%.
Anna Marek of Dunnellon, Florida, and Fire Fly, a 13-year-old KWPN gelding, placed third on 69.500%.
