NEUMÜNSTER, Germany, Feb. 18, 2023–Denmark’s Nanna Skodborg Merrald rode Blue Hors Zepter to a personal best score to win the World Cup Grand Prix Saturday.
Nanna and the 15-year-old Oldeburg gelding were awarded 77.130% in the third to last qualifier in the Western European League. The rider is virtually certain to be invited to Omaha for the Final at the beginning of April.
Germany’s Ingrid Klimke was runner-up on Franziskus FRH, 15-year-old Hanoverian stallion, on 75.478%. Ingrid is ranked second behind fellow German Isabell Werth in Western Europe.
Kirsten Brouwer of the Netherlands on Foundation, 13-year-old KWPN stallion, was third on 74.065%.
The Freestyle Sunday will decide points and standings. Nine riders from Western Europe will be invited to Omaha.
