WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 29, 2023–Summersby II, an eight-year-old Oldenburg mare ridden by Alice Tarjan, won the Lövsta Future Challenge for prospective Grand Prix horses Sunday, the latest in the string of top mounts developed by the American rider.

In this year’s first Future Challenge events at Intermediate II and Prix St. Georges, Alice of Oldwick, New Jersey and Summersby (Sezuan 2 x Sandro Hit) were awarded 70.833% for the win to qualify for the winter season-ending final.

Ali Potasky of Versailles, Kentucky and Inxs, 10-year-old KWPN gelding (Everdale x Harmony’s Rousseau) placed second on 69.558%.

In the past two years, Alice Tarjan has competed horses she has found as youngsters and developed to Big Tour: Candescent, Donnatella and the U.S.-bred Serenade MF with Jane and Summersby coming up right behind.

Germany’s Michael Klimke and Harmony’s Fado, nine-year-old gelding (Fairytale x Sir Donnerhall) owned by Harmony Amateur Sports Foundation of Harmony Amateur Sports Foundation of Hobe Sound, Florida won the Future Challenge Prix St. Georges on 70.932%.

Kelly Layne, an Australian based in Wellington, placed second with 70.539% on the eight-year-old gelding Living Diamond (Livaldon x Fürst Rousseau) owned by Ellen Trouille.

Both horses qualified for the final at the end of March.
