MECHELEN, Belgium, Dec. 28, 2022–Netherlands world championship team partnership of Marieke van der Putten and Tørveslettens Titanium RS2 won the World Cup Grand Prix on a personal best score Wednesday to edge world champion rider Charlotte Fry on her Olympic mount Everdale into second.
Marieke and the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding sired by Totilas scored 75.978% to easily beat the pair’s previous highest Grand Prix result of 74.565% set almost seven months ago. The duo began international Grand Prix 14 months ago.
Lottie Fry, the 26-year-old world champion rider, and her Tokyo Olympic British team bronze medal mount Everdale, a 13-year-old KWPN stallion, were awarded 75.783%, just 0.195% behind, for second place. Charlotte and Glamourdale, her world championship individual and Freestyle gold medal partner, won the World Cup in London two weeks ago.
Dinja van Liere of the Netherlands and Hermes, 10-year-old KWPN stallion, were third on 75.152%.
This was the sixth of 11 qualifiers in Western Europe leading to the Final in Omaha in April.
The Grand Prix Freestyle to decide points toward a start in Omaha is scheduled for Thursday.
