MADRID, Nov. 25, 2022–German World Championship team partnership of Frederic Wandres and Duke of Britain FRH won the World Cup Grand Prix Friday in a bid for a start at the Final in Omaha.

Frederic and the 15-year-old British-bred Hanoverian gelding were awarded 77.152% in returning to competition after the team bronze medal performance at the world championships in August.

Frederic has become a regular competitor at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida as the rider for Hof Kasselmann of Hagen, Germany.

Netherlands’ Thamar Zweistra and Hexagon’s Ich Weiss, a nine-year-old NRPS stallion, was runner-up on 72,478%.

Morgan Barbançon of France and Sir Donnerhall II OLD, 16-year-old Oldenburg stallion, placed third on 72.196%.

Canada’s Naima Moreira Laliberté and Statesman, 15-year-old Hanoverian stallion, scored 68.848% for seventh in the first European indoor competition for the Pan American Games team gold medal pair.

The Freestyle to decide points to go toward qualifying for Omaha is scheduled for Saturday.
